An Independent Site, Not a Government Agency

This site is not run by, connected to or endorsed by the Social Security Administration (SSA), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), any state agency or any other part of government. We can't access your records, accept applications, check a claim or make decisions about benefits. For those, go to ssa.gov/disability, va.gov/disability or your state agency. Applying for Social Security disability benefits or VA compensation is free.

Information Only, Not Legal or Benefits Advice

The guides, condition pages, state pages and tools explain published rules in plain words to help you understand your options. They are general information, not legal, financial, medical or benefits advice, and they don't cover every situation. Using the site doesn't create an attorney-client or representative relationship with anyone. Official Decisions Come From the Agencies

Only SSA, VA and state agencies decide eligibility, ratings, payment amounts and appeals, and their rules and decisions control over anything on this site. We don't guarantee eligibility, approval, payment amounts, processing times or any outcome.

Tool Results Are Estimates

The calculators and screener apply official tables and rules to the answers you enter. Their results are estimates for planning, not a determination, and they depend on the accuracy and completeness of what you enter. An agency's decision may differ because of facts the tools don't ask about.

Figures and Rules Change

Benefit amounts and limits change every year, and programs change their rules. Pages show the year of each figure and the date they were checked, and the methodology explains how figures are refreshed. We can't promise that every page or external link is current at the moment you read it. Confirm important details with the agency before you act. If you find a material error, use the contact form.

Advertising
