Form 789

After receiving Social Security Disability benefits, many people wonder whether and when they will run out. However, the truth of the problem is that there is no simple answer. Disability benefits can last from a few months to a few years for some people, while for others, they can last for the rest of their lives and become Social Security Retirement income.

After receiving Social Security Disability benefits, a person must have their eligibility periodically checked. According to these evaluations, whether or not a person can continue receiving Social Security Disability benefits depends on the outcome. This depends on whether or not the Social Security Administration believes that your debilitating condition will improve. Depending on the severity of your disease, your doctor may recommend periodic reviews every six to eighteen months or every five to seven years.

An appeal is available if, at some point in the future, the Social Security Administration finds that your condition has improved and that your benefits will no longer be available to you. The SSA Form 789 is used to file this appeal. Even though you are appealing the decision of the SSA, you will still receive monthly Social Security Disability benefit payments. An overpayment could happen if you lose your appeal, and you may be forced to return any money you received during your appeal to Social Security.
